Import your full Garmin history
freddy's live Garmin sync covers roughly the last month of history. To bring in everything older, upload the data export you can request from Garmin.
Request your export from Garmin
- Go to Garmin Account Data Management and sign in.
- Select Export Your Data, then Request Data Export.
- Garmin emails you a download link -- typically within 48 hours, though Garmin says it can take up to 30 days for large accounts.
- Download the ZIP. It can be large (it contains every activity file you ever recorded) -- keep it zipped; you won't need to open it.
Upload it to freddy
- Open Sources, find your connected Garmin row, and choose Import full history (.zip).
- Pick the downloaded ZIP. Your browser reads the archive locally and uploads only the health data files -- best done on a computer.
- The import runs in the background and usually finishes within a few minutes. The connection row shows progress.
What gets imported
- Continuous with your live data: daily steps, distance, calories, heart rate, resting heart rate, stress, Body Battery, sleep stages and sleep score, weight, and blood pressure readings.
- As separate import series: workouts/activities, HRV, VO2max, training readiness, training load, race predictions, fitness age, endurance and hill scores, running tolerance, cycling ability, race-event time projections, heat and altitude acclimation, hydration and sweat-loss estimates, per-activity VO2max samples, and ECG summaries. These use import-specific names so they never mix with live values.
- Not yet imported: per-second sensor recordings (FIT files), naps, personal records, lifestyle logging, and goals. ECG waveform samples are kept alongside the imported ECG reading but are not yet a queryable series of their own.
Already uploaded your export before? Newly supported data types are not extracted retroactively -- upload the same ZIP again and they fill in.
Good to know
- We only read and import the health data files inside the export -- account profile, contacts, and social files are not part of the import.
- Your full imported history is always visible in the dashboard Data view and CSV export. On the free plan, AI queries cover the last 30 days; upgrading unlocks the full history in your AI conversations.
- Live data wins: days already covered by your live Garmin sync are never overwritten by an import.
- Re-uploading the same export is safe -- the import recognizes existing data.
- Your uploaded file is held securely (encrypted) only until the import finishes, then deleted. If the import is interrupted, it resumes on its own.
- Disconnecting Garmin deletes your synced and imported Garmin data. If you reconnect later, re-upload the export to restore deep history.
