Good morning, health and performance enthusiasts.
A warm welcome to the 1,025 new members who joined freddy last week.
In short
- On 22 Oct freddy was unavailable for about 6 hours and 40 minutes. It is fixed and your data is safe. What happened
- Your direct URL no longer contains your key. Apps that can't sign in send your MCP key as a header instead, and your old direct URL keeps working for now.
- Food and drink entries from Apple Health and Health Connect logged at the same moment no longer overwrite each other.
- Health Connect sleep: a night no longer reads longer than it was when its sleep stages arrive later.
- Garmin: very large syncs, like long and detailed activities, no longer fail.
- We also squashed several bugs and errors.
- Use case of the week: how Nate brings his training context together in ChatGPT.
What happened on 21 to 22 Oct
From 23:22 UTC on 21 Oct to 06:03 UTC on 22 Oct, freddy was unavailable for about 6 hours and 40 minutes. It is fixed and your data is safe. We're sorry for the disruption. The full write-up is here: What happened.
Your direct URL no longer contains your key
Your direct URL is now tied to your freddy account and no longer has your key in it. An app or script that can't sign in sends your MCP key as a header instead. The URL needs that key, or a sign-in, to work.
Your old direct URL keeps working for now. Find the new one on the Direct URL card in your dashboard.
Every food and drink entry is kept
If you log meals in an app that writes to Apple Health or Health Connect, entries logged at the same moment could overwrite each other, so some nutrition values went missing. Each entry is now stored separately, so new nutrition data arrives complete.
Health Connect sleep adds up
When Health Connect first sent a night without stages and later sent the staged version, the night could read longer than it actually was. New syncs now replace the old total with the stages.
Big Garmin syncs go through
A very large Garmin sync, such as a long activity with detailed data, could fail. freddy now accepts it, so nothing is left behind.
Use case of the week: Nate's training context, together in ChatGPT
Nate is building a private, iPhone-first AI fitness coaching system inside ChatGPT. It's a personal project in active development.
freddy provides his workout performance, activity and training-load insights, which Nate combines with Motra, Peloton, Apple Health, Foodnoms, Google Calendar and Drive. The goal is coaching recommendations based on his actual performance and trends: strength progressions, recovery needs, training adjustments and nutrition guidance. He's also working toward approval-based actions that can make and verify changes across connected services.
Ultimately, Nate wants to move beyond tracking fitness data to a coach that adapts and improves alongside him.
