Codex is OpenAI's coding agent. It runs as a command-line tool, an IDE extension and in the ChatGPT desktop app, and all three read the same MCP config. Add freddy once and each of them can answer questions about your sleep, workouts and heart rate.
Before you start
You need a freddy account, at least one connected source, and Codex installed. See Choose and connect a data source.
1. Add freddy to your config
Open ~/.codex/config.toml and add:
[mcp_servers.freddy]
url = "https://freddy.coach/mcp"The URL is the same for every freddy account and contains no personal token.
2. Sign in
Run:
codex mcp login freddyCodex starts the OAuth sign-in with freddy. Follow it, sign in with your freddy email code if needed, review any required Terms, Privacy and Consumer Health Data consent, and approve.
3. Check and ask
Run codex mcp list to see freddy. In the Codex terminal UI, type /mcp to see it live. Then ask: “What data is available in my freddy account?”
Manage access
Remove the [mcp_servers.freddy] block to disconnect. You can also revoke Codex's OAuth grant in freddy under Connected AI.
If setup does not work
Check that the URL is exactly https://freddy.coach/mcp. If freddy shows as signed out, run codex mcp login freddy again. Do not paste an API key into the config when OAuth works. If it still fails, see agent troubleshooting or contact freddy support with the error text, without sending a code or token.
