Connect freddy from Gemini
Gemini can read your freddy data through a custom app. You paste one URL, approve the connection, and Gemini can answer questions about your sleep, workouts and recovery in any chat.
This one has a narrow door. Gemini custom apps are part of Gemini Spark, and Spark needs a paid Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. They are also available only in the United States, only in English, and only on a personal Google Account. If that is not your setup, Gemini cannot add freddy today, and the freddy CLI or a client like Claude or ChatGPT will get you there instead.
Before you start
- A Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, which is what gives you access to Gemini Spark.
- A personal Google Account. Work and school accounts cannot add custom apps.
- Keep Activity switched on in your Gemini settings.
- You are 18 or over, in the United States, and using Gemini in English.
- A computer. Custom apps cannot be added from the Gemini mobile app, though freddy works there once it is connected.
- Your freddy MCP URL, which is on your dashboard under Connect freddy to your AI.
Add freddy to Gemini
- On your computer, open gemini.google.com.
- At the bottom, click Settings & help, then Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps for Spark, click Add a custom app.
- Enter your freddy MCP URL and click Next. freddy registers itself, so you should not need to open Advanced features or enter any credentials.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Gemini sends you to freddy to approve the connection.
- Ask Gemini something like How did I sleep last night? to check it worked.
What to expect
You only add freddy once, on a computer. After that it works in the Gemini app on your phone as well as on the web.
Gemini asks you to confirm before anything that writes, such as starting a sync. Reading your data does not prompt.
Google notes that it does not control or secure third-party MCP servers, and that data you send to one is handled under that app's privacy practices. What freddy does with your data is set out in the freddy privacy policy.
If something goes wrong
If the connection stalls after you approve it, remove the custom app under Connected Apps in Gemini and add it again.
If Gemini cannot reach freddy, check that you copied the whole URL, with no trailing space.
You can revoke access at any time, either from the Connected apps card on your freddy dashboard or from Connected Apps in Gemini.
Using the Gemini CLI instead
Gemini CLI is a different product: a developer tool that runs in your terminal, with none of the Spark limits. Run gemini mcp add --transport http freddy with your freddy MCP URL, then restart the CLI.
