Why am I tired today?

A one-prompt morning briefing that reads last night's sleep, HRV and resting heart rate and tells you how hard to push today, whatever ring or watch you wear.

Data you need:

  1. Ask for your morning readout

    One prompt does it. Your assistant reads whatever recovery signals your device records overnight and turns them into a plain-language readout, with no jargon and no dashboard.

    Run list_metrics, then read my most recent night: sleep duration and stages, resting heart rate, HRV, and any readiness or recovery score I have. Compare each to my own 30-day baseline, not to population norms. In plain language, tell me whether today looks like a day to push hard, keep it easy, or rest, and which single signal is driving that.

    Always run list_metrics first, because these metrics are named differently on every device.

  2. Ask why a number is off

    If a signal looks off, ask the assistant to trace it back through the week.

    My HRV or resting heart rate is off my baseline this morning. Look back over the last week of my data and tell me what most likely explains it: a late night, alcohol, a hard workout, illness, or travel. Use only what is in my data, and say so if there is not enough to tell.

What you'll see

You'll get something like: slept a little short, resting heart rate a touch high, HRV below your baseline, so today reads as an easy day, with the short sleep as the main driver. The specific numbers depend on your night.

The example here is illustrative, not from a real day.

Good to know

HRV is not comparable across brands. Different devices use different HRV measures, so compare your HRV to your own history, never to someone else's number or another device.

Apple Health and Health Connect give sleep, HRV and resting heart rate but no single readiness or recovery score. If you connect only those, the briefing works from the raw signals instead of a score.

The readout is only as good as what your device records. A night the ring or watch missed shows as gaps, not zeros.
