Connect Apple Health (iOS)

Apple Health is Apple's on-device health data platform for iPhone. When you connect it, freddy can read the health and fitness data stored there — including data from your Apple Watch, and from any app that writes to the Health app, such as Oura, Garmin Connect, Whoop, and Strava.

What you will need

Step 1: Install freddy and log in

Install the freddy app from the App Store. Open it and enter your freddy email address. A six-digit code will be sent to that address — enter it in the app to sign in.

Step 2: Connect Apple Health in the app

  1. Open the Sources tab in the freddy app.
  2. Tap Apple Health in the list.
  3. Tap Connect.
  4. The iOS Health permission screen appears. Review the list of data types freddy is requesting — sleep, heart rate, workouts, steps, and others.
  5. Tap Allow All to grant access to everything, or toggle individual categories and tap Allow to share a subset.
  6. freddy begins pulling in your data. Most data appears within a few minutes.

Step 3: Keep the app open for the first sync

The first sync reads your full available history. Keep the freddy app in the foreground until the Sources tile shows a "Last sync" time — this usually takes two to five minutes depending on how much data you have.

After the first sync completes, freddy refreshes your data automatically each time you open the app.

What data freddy reads

freddy reads the health and fitness data you grant permission for, which may include sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability, steps, active calories, workouts, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, and more, depending on what your devices and apps have written to Apple Health. freddy only reads data. It never writes anything back to Apple Health or to your other connected apps.

Everything freddy stores is encrypted at rest and served only to the AI assistant you have connected.

Adjusting permissions later

If you want to change what freddy can read:

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security · Health.
  3. Tap freddy in the list.
  4. Toggle the data categories you want to share on or off.

Changes take effect the next time you open the freddy app and it syncs.
