Every freddy account has a direct URL: a private link that connects an AI app straight to that account, with no sign-in step. Most of the time you won't need it. Connecting with sign-in, from the AI apps page in freddy, is still the better default.
When to use it
- A second freddy account in the same AI app. The sign-in address is the same for every freddy account, so most AI apps keep one freddy connection per address. Each direct URL is different, so each one can be its own connection.
- An AI app that can't sign in. Some apps only take a plain server URL. Your direct URL works there.
Where to find it
- On the web: the AI apps page, under Your direct URL.
- In the freddy app: the AI tab, under Your direct URL. The app asks you to confirm it's you before it shows or copies the link.
- In a terminal:
freddy urlprints it. See Use the freddy CLI.
The link stays hidden until you choose Reveal. Copy works without revealing it.
Keep it private
Anyone who has your direct URL can use your freddy account the way your AI app does. They can:
- read everything freddy stores for the account, including your email address and plan
- start a sync, or start connecting a new source (only you, signed in to freddy, can finish that)
- accept updates to freddy's terms
- disconnect a source, which also deletes the data freddy stored for it
So treat it like a password. If you give it to someone, it gives them all of the above. If it ever ends up somewhere it shouldn't, rotate it.
Add it to an AI app
Paste your direct URL wherever the app asks for a remote MCP server URL. A few things help when you have two freddy connections side by side:
- Give each connection a name that says which account it is, like freddy main and freddy second.
- When the AI app asks you to confirm an action, check which connection it's about to use.
- Add it to your own account only, never as an organization or workspace connector. A direct URL doesn't ask anyone to sign in, so everyone in the workspace would get your account.
ChatGPT. A second freddy account goes through developer mode, which is available on the web for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts. Create an app from an MCP server, paste your direct URL and choose No authentication. OpenAI's developer mode guide has the details.
Claude. Add a custom connector and paste your direct URL. Free Claude plans are limited to one custom connector, so a second one needs a paid plan. See Anthropic's custom connector guide.
Rotate it
Rotate from the Your direct URL card, on the web or in the app.
- The old link stops working at once, for every app that uses it. Paste the new one into the apps you still want connected.
- Apps you connected with sign-in keep working.
- Signing out of freddy on a device doesn't stop the direct URL. Only rotating does.
